Patient Confidentiality
All members of staff have signed a Confidentiality Statement.
All members of our practice staff are under instruction from the partners and governed by the Data Protection Act. This Act states that no information relating to a patient shall be given to any person other than that patient. Exceptions to this exist in the case of a child under the age of 16 or where a patient is medically unable to deal with such affairs, when such information will be given to the parents, guardian or carer.
Staff will therefore be unable to tell somebody if a particular patient has been or is expected to attend a surgery or clinic.
Staff will not pass on results of tests etc to anyone other than the patient.
If you as a patient wish information regarding yourself to be given to a nominated person then you must provide written consent to that effect.
